104th_Fallen
We are opening recruitment at this time, we are looking for 4 (Four) potential cadets at this time. The application period will remain open until The end of the month (2/28/2021). Ensure that you CAREFULLY read all linked information, if you don't we'll know ;-). In case this thread is marked "OPEN" please post your application as a reply following the example: Name: Smart E. Xample (Callsign: "Smartman") Age: 29 Time Flying in DCS: Approximately 1 year Preferred Aircraft: Parachute Reason for applying: Growing up it was my dream to become a fighter pilot in the US Navy. Earlier this year I learned of DCS while playing BF4 and the rest has been history. I love being able to use DCS as an outlet to satisfy my dream of becoming a great fighter pilot. By nature I am a perfectionist with a strong desire to be the best in anything I do. As a result of this personality trait, I am very willing to work hard to achieve that greatness. Over the last 5 months, with the guidance/coaching of more experience pilots in the 104th TS, I feel I have made many positive strides in improving as a virtual pilot. Still, I know I have much to learn and improve on. While I am proud of the initial progress I have made, I realize that those who become great were often guided and mentored by those that were great before them. That is where the 104th comes in, and I am excited that there is an even greater opportunity to achieve a steep learning curve within the 104th VFBS. I believe that having the opportunity to learn from, and fly as a team with, the members of the 104th is the optimal next step for me. My early track record of showing an ability to learn quickly and fly as part of a team make me confident that I have established the early foundational skills necessary to generate positive impact within the existing 104th family. All of these things make me confident that I would be a wise investment for the 104th. But - hold on a second... BEFORE APPLYING - please take a moment and read the following threads CAREFULLY (it's not optional, it's a PREREQUESITE and if we notice - and we will - that you didn't read them upfront, we will decline your application straight away) How to join the 104th: Software and Hardware requirements: How to apply steb by step: Undergraduate Pilot Training: UPTs - Track file location and Dos and Don'ts: Edited August 31, 2019 by Fallen
104th_Raccoon
Name: Sebastian Guth aka Sebakogu (Callsign: Raccoon) Age: 40 Time Flying in DCS: 6.5 years Preferred Aircraft: F/A-18C; F-14 (still learning it), I like the Navy stuff in DCS! Reason for applying: First of all I would like to thank the 104th squadron for their efforts to the DCS community! Well, I don't have a military history in real life as I choosed to do some civil help at a hospital when I was 19 and finished high school (in Germany it's called "Abitur"). But I'm interested in aviation since my childhood. In 2014 I discovered DCS-World the first time and got into it. Bought the Warthog equipment straight ahead as I knew I would stick with DCS... The first module I got into was the A-10C Warthog as I like ground attacks. One year later I discovered the 104th Phoenix server and gave it a try. Sure, I die a lot of times but I don't give up! I discovered twitch.tv and so I found 104th_Maverick and love his streams and the skill he shows, same goes for 104th_Bullet. In 2019 or 2020 (I don't remember exactly) Mav invited me to take part on some of his deep-strike missions and I felt honored and happy! A couple of months ago I asked him, if he could give me some basic BVR-training as I really struggle against the good pilots in the multiplayer world and he gave me a 2 hour training. Now I don't die every engagement the opponent does on me. I still have to learn many things and I think the 104th squadron is the right and best way. I took part in some of your events and from time to time I fly with you guys which is always good times, fun and good lessons, which improves my skills! I would be really honored if you give me the chance to become a 104th cadet to improve my skills and capabilities and have fun with the 104th family as I have the will to work hard, staying focused and on target. See you in the skies. S! Raccoon
Tricky11
Name: Chris Deacon (Callsign: Tricky) Was Nescafe years ago... Age: 44 Time Flying in DCS: 8 years Preferred Aircraft: F/A-18C and AV8B Reason for applying: Good Afternoon Sirs. I applied to join the 104th a few years ago now but never made the cut lol. Anyway i have been around a bit longer now and decided i would like to take the next step and try again. You would think that being around DCS for 8 years i would be pretty fantastic by now but Noooo not at all. It seems as though i have not dedicated enough time to a single aircraft and instead been fluttering between them all. But i am most proficient (if you could call it that lol) with the F18 and probably my favorite the AV8B. I ran the DCS group UK NAVALOPS for a couple of years but since handed the commanders spot back to the original commander when he came out of retirement early this year. Since then i have been casually flying in DCS and found that i am enjoying it even more now that i do not have responsibilities of being in charge of a group. Well not much else to say really apart from there will be no hard feelings if you think i would not fit in the squadron and i would still continue to fly with the 104th. Thanks Chris
Zergburger
Name: Nick Postma (Zergburger, Clown Penis, Tryhard 1-1) Age: 33 Time Flying in DCS: uh.....10 years now??? too long Preferred Aircraft: F-172 skyhawk, tomcat, JF, viper, (hornet is pretty meta right now) Reason for applying: A Succubus blackmailed my start up business and now I vow to prevent that from happening to anyone else....oh wait thats my DnD character.... I've lurked around your server/TS for a long time now, enjoy flying with you guys, and want to make the next step in my DCS training. I saw your performance in SATAL and admired it for what it was, outclassing the competition. I know you guys, you know me; I honestly don't know what to put here that I haven't said already through other avenues. Turn Ons: carrier qualifications, long flights in extremely close formation, flying L39s, and making Knight rage.... I'm also a bit handy in the back seat of a tomcat,. Tulpar
Name: Can Özkan, Callsign Tulpar Age: 21 Time in DCS: 2 Years Preferred Aircraft: F/A-18C Reason for Applying: I was looking for a friendly squadron that i can have fun with. I'm more of a hardcore sim guy, but i dont really care as long as sh*t goes boom. I was in Işıklar Air Forces High School in Turkey before the failed coup attempt, then i lost my wings. Long story. Now i'm a mechanical engineer that has undying love for planes. I pretty much know every system, not that i'm a flying ace or anything. I can easily do every formation and can do AAR in max 1 disconnections. I might need a little work adjusting to the comms you guys use. I prefer the carrier operations, currently reading the S&A Guide on Carrier Ops. I still have a lot to learn. I'm looking forward to hear from you guys. Perry
Name: A. Perry (Perry) Age: 19 Time Flying in DCS: 1 years 6 months (August 2019) Preferred aircraft: F/A-18, Su-27, UH-1 Reason for applying: I have been flying in DCS for 1 and a half years (18 Months) and have become very keen to learn more about the aircraft I fly and improve my abilities in them. When I began to fly I struggled to find a community or server that would allow me to improve my skills as a virtual pilot in an environment that focuses on teamwork, I believe I found this on the 104th multiplayer server as the level of teamwork and openness to beginners impressed me greatly. The overall quality and clear effort that goes into the production of the missions impresses me greatly and from my experiences the missions provide a competitive environment that allows players to build on basic skills in a fun environment. My first flight sim was IL-2 Sturmovik which I flew for a year before becoming bored with the simplicity of the aircraft as I wanted to be able to complete the processes and procedures involved in the operation of the aircraft in more detail. Once I started playing DCS I knew I was hooked and that I had found a new hobby that I will stick with for a very long time. In the future I am looking to find a career in cyber security within the aviation industry as it combines two hobbies I am extremely passionate about. Currently I am an archery coach, this job has shown me that I enjoy communicating with people and working with people to improve their and my own skills. Within archery I am very competitive and I am always looking to find ways to improve my technique and abilities, I believe this trait has carried over to DCS and allows me to improve quickly within DCS as I am constantly looking to improve and enjoy feedback from others on how I can improve. I know there are various areas I require improvement in within DCS and it is my hope that with the help of the 104th I can become a more affective player in my favourite hobby. Since starting DCS I have had a passion for researching military aviation; for example, military procedures/tactics and radio communications. Overall, I have been impressed with the openness and skill of everyone in the 104th I have had the pleasure of flying with. I hope that by sending this application I will have the chance to improve myself within DCS and add more to the 104th by working hard and applying my time to the unit. Thank you for reading my application, Perry.

I've never been a writer so I can't compete with the other essays above.

104th_Fallen
Hello again! We are ready to announce our selection of candidates, and with a surprise! We are going to clear 5 of you to attempt your UPTs. @Sebakogu @Tricky11 @Zergburger @Lozzie @Perry - Come find me on discord, or DM me here, and lets have a quick chat first alright? Please get in touch with me, Blaze, or Bullet on Discord, Teamspeak, or message us here if you have additional questions or are looking for assistance with your UPT's. You now have three weeks to submit your successfully completed UPT's, ensure you carefully read all of the UPT material, and fly those numbers. We really are looking for perfection. Please get in touch if you have some a scheduling issue which will prevent you from completing UPT's in that time frame, we will see if it is something we can schedule around. Also, ensure you are playing on an unmoddified open beta client, mods can and often will corrupt MP tracks. Good luck! @Tulpar @Bikerboy @Striker Unfortunately guys, you were not selected for this round of recruitment. We are not telling you NO outright, just "Not yet". If joining the 104th is something you are serious and passionate about I would absolutely encourage you to continue to fly on the server and to get involved with the squadon, and its members. And to reapply on the next recruitment cycle, which is currently sheduled to open in about six months. Thanks again to everyone for taking time to drop an application, S! KE8AB
Name: Samuel Dean (Callsign: Kebab) Age: 28 Time Flying in DCS: Approximately 5 Preferred Aircraft: F-16C and slowly learning the F/A-18C. Reason for applying: After first getting on to DCS in 2016 after watching some streams and videos here and there, it satisfied a life long love for military aviation that had been itching away at me for a long long time - playing sims that my Dad had on our family PC really got me into aviation and seeing the F-15's from Lakenheath fly over along with seeing the RAF/USAF rip up the mach loop on my several trips there. The first server I ever joined on DCS when I felt I was ready to come online was 104th and I've been hooked ever since apart from a break for a little while which a lot know about due to headaches in VR. Since initially joining the server all those years ago, it has taken me a while to feel proficient enough to even consider applying but it has always been a dream of mine to be a part of the 104th as a whole, and I've never considered another squadron but the 104th. I don't consider myself to be an amazing pilot in DCS and I see the 104th as a fountain of knowledge, amongst some good friends that I've met online, and I feel that applying myself to the squadron as much as I can will 1. Help me become a better pilot within DCS, 2. Be a valuable member of the squadron and 3. Be a part of something that I will truly love, along with being around some bloody great squadron mates. I think it would be an honour to be a part of the 104th as it's something I've always looked up to, something to push my boundaries, something to learn from and a great thing to be a part of. Hope this will be something you're looking for! S! Samuel "Kebab" Dean
