Due to the release of DCS 1.5 we were forced to rebuild our missions from scratch and we wanted to do something special for you. That is why we bring you the most popular mission of Flaming Cliffs 2 and maybe the most flown and popular mission of all times:

The first side that destroys the 6 main groups of enemy ground units first wins the battle and the mission will rotate. Each group of main ground units enters the mission after the previous one is destroyed.

Operation: Moonshield

Six months ago, the world stood in awe when the biggest archaeological discovery of mankind was announced by a German team from the University of Heidelberg. Remains of a 120,000 year old capital city were discovered in western Georgia. In the ruins many things were found, including books that were written in a very ancient language, as well as many unknown artifacts. Although not confirmed by official sources, these objects are believed to be a form of unknown technology. Now the world is re-writing its history books.

Very recently, strange vibrations were detected beneath the ruins. The patterns in these vibrations were artificial in nature and even contained a message. The German team began drilling and made a huge discovery. Quickly after this the Russian army came in, kidnapped the archaeologists, and took over the entire area. What exactly was discovered is unknown, but it was important enough that Georgia was invaded by the Russian army to gain control of the find. Soon after this aggressive Russian move, NATO forces came in and occupied the northern part of the Crimean area, and even large parts of Russia. In a desperate attempt for military support, Russian intelligence services sold information about the discovery to the Israeli secret service 'Mossad'. Israeli forces were then sent to Georgia to support Russia and keep control of the area.

Fighter Sweep: WP1 Tuapse harbour -
Common for all fighters and is midway to hostile airbases at Tuapse harbour on the coast. Stop enemy fighters from trying to obtain air dominance.

Fighter Defensive Counter Air: WP2 Krasnodar Central -
Protect our ground units at  Krasnodar Central and East of Krasnodar.

Fighter Escort1 : WP3 Maykop -
Protect the friendly strikers attacking enemy units at Maykop and West of Maykop.

Fighter Escort2:
Escort IL-78 Supply drops from Sochi to WP1, then back to Gudauta.

CAS - Fast Attack:

Su-25/Su-25T/A10-C
Take off from Sochi, fly to WP1 - Maykop to attack first enemy ground units Alpha at Maykop. After destroying Alpha, Maykop will be captured and used as a FARP. Continue following waypoints to destroy additionl enemy groups; WP2=Bravo Group, WP3=Charlie Group, WP4=Delta, WP5=Echo Group, WP6=Foxtrot Group.

Anti-Ship 1 / Anti-Ship 2
1) Destroy the enemy carrier group located West of Novorossijsk. 2) Destroy the enemy cargo ships near Tuapse harbour. A small amount of enemy air defense has been reported at the harbour and an enemy battle ship is on the move from Sochi to the harbour for support.  (Beware of friendly units (AD, ships and oil rig) on our side of the harbour!)  

CAS/ Attack Helos:

Ka-50 Torba FARP

Take off from Torba FARP. Abris WP1-Maykop to attack first enemy ground units Alpha at Maykop.  After destroying Alpha, Maykop will be captured and additional Ka-50s can start at Maykop without threat of enemy ground units. Continue following waypoints to destroy additional enemy groups.

Ka-50 Maykop

Once Maykop is captured Ka-50s can start at Maykop without immediate threat of enemy ground units. Continue following waypoints to destroy additional enemy groups; WP1=Bravo Group, WP2=Charlie Group, WP3=Delta, WP4=Echo Group, WP5=Foxtrot.

Common Waypoint References:
Fighters  WP3 (Maykop) = Fast Attack & Attack Helos from FARP WP1 = Attack Helos from Maykop WP0.

Beware of SAMs! All target areas have a high amount of SHORAD and AAA, including IR SAMS and Tor and Tunguskas.

Abris WP1-Krasnodar Centerl to attack first enemy ground units Alpha at Krasnodar Center.  After destroying Alpha, Kras. will be captured and additional Ka-50s can start at Kras. without threat of enemy ground units. Continue to following waypoints to destroy additional enemy groups; WP2=Bravo Group, WP3=Charlie Group, WP4=Delta, WP5=Echo Group. WP6=Foxtrot Group.

Ka-50s starting from Krasnodar:

Once Krasnodar Center is captured Ka-50s can start at Kras. without immediate threat of enemy ground units. Continue following waypoints to destroy additional enemy groups; WP1=Bravo Group, WP2=Charlie Group, WP3=Delta, WP4=Echo Group. WP5=Foxtrot Group.

Common Waypoint References:

For the time being:

- changed zu-23s to shilkas, because emplacements are not visible atm (bug)

- disabled AI Su-30s and AI F-18s as they like to chase players all over the map, rather sticking to their search and engange zone.
