IronMike
We are proud to announce the winners of the 2014 104th Phoenix VFBS Christmas Screenshot contest! First of all we would like to thank you all for your submissions. You can believe us, it was no easy choice for us and we are greatful and proud of all of your submissions. In the end we had to make a choice though, and it came down to this. Congratulations to the winner and hopefully better luck for everybody else the next time! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!1. Place Winner: "C-130 landing" - by Octuplefire Congratulations to the Winner! We hope you enjoy your DCS Module of choice!Jury's Note: This clear image of a landing C-130 in morning fog and sun hides more than it reveals: We see two dim lights fading in the glowing fog - shivering cold and silence shroud the winter landscape in mystery, yet the colors, shades, shadows and shapes are crystal clear in this beautiful arrangement that reveals such great detail and precision of scenery. We can only guess what this morning will bring. New soldiers, prepping for yet another fight? Secret material for the front? The imagination gets the better of you while looking at this image and opens up yet another world of fantastic stories in the DCS Universe. Congratulations!2. Place Winner: "A Frog on approach" - by Barthek Congratulations to the Winner!Jury's Note: The amazing depth of field, the brilliant colors and the strong character of this beautiful aircraft are breath-taking in this wonderful image. Rarely seen, your view gets carried away over the vast snow-blue scenery and yet rests strongly on the powerful display of the Frogfoot! It truely displays the greatness of DCS World at its core, with this first and foremost representative of it. At the same time the image is both a historic and contemporary embrace of our marvellous hobby. Congratulations!3. Place Winner: "MiG-15 - a Rising Star" - by Schweehog Congratulations to the Winner!Jury's Note: While simple at first glance, the longer you watch, the more the beautiful glow and light get through to the viewer's eye, as if emerging from the dark. The glowing metal in the evening winter sun, the powerful and characteristic ascent of the MiG-15 making its way up, up, up into the sky... here we really take a peek at a Rising Star in the DCS Consortium. Congratulations!Honorable Mention, 4th Place: "Der schnelle Kurfürst" - by DerbysiegerJury's Note: The power of the Kurfürst rushing through the winter sky - this image gives us a clear sense of speed, combined with the dreamyness of the still of the flare above and a sleeping winter landscape below - as if the world would hold its breath for a moment. In this contradiction it is simply beautiful. Thank you!Honorable Mention, 5th Place: "The Magnificent 8" - by roeney12Jury's Note: An Mi-8 steadily progressing through the cold winter haze, patrolling the surrounding city and landscape with an ever watchful eye: this snapshot freezes the capture of movement for us just in time, as if it would stop only to show off its magnificence. Enchanted by the suns corona it is a truly beautiful display of force. Thank you!Honorable Mention, 6th Place: "A not so Christmas falling" - by SLAMRAAMJury's Note: Been there, done that or not so much we hope. This very clever selection of a scene without any aircraft gives a nice and atmospheric insight in the great variety of what one might discover in the DCS World. The downed pilot struggling to get up, the folding parachute, the attending soldiers, ready to capture the poor fellow, all of them freezing on duty in a snow-covered forest, maybe dreaming of their families preparing for Christmas in a warm home... It all seems far away and loved ones are being missed dearly. An event truly unfolding a tragic chain of effects that makes us all appreciate we can enjoy it in a virtual environment - safe and warm at home for Christmas... Thank you!And last, but not least: The Funny One: "DCS: Christmas Tree" - by rainbowtwoJury's Note: Dude, you made us laugh. A LOT! The DCS Christmas Tree... 'nough said. Thank you!Again THANK YOU ALL FOR PARTICIPATING! We hope you enjoyed these as much as we did. We are definately looking forward to the next screenshot contest and hope those of you who haven't been mentioned this time get more lucky next time. With some of your screenshots we have been impressed a lot, so with your kind permission, we would like to the show them on our new homepage that we will announce soon. Until then we all wish you Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year 2015. May it bring you luck and happiness! S!
